MEV Exocet --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Exomotive is proud to announce the Mazda Miata-based MEV Exocet kit car to the US market.
The Exocet kit car takes all it's mechanicals from a 1990-2005 Mazda Miata and places them into a stiff, lightweight exoskeletal frame.
By losing a third of the Miata's weight, it results in a fast, well-balanced and responsive sports car.
Designer Stuart Mills of MEV had very clear design goals from the beginning of the Exocet project: easy to build, lightweight, low cost, and massive fun. A brilliant concept aimed at the novice car builder with over 150 kits sold worldwide since the car's release.
Economically, the Exocet can be one of the most inexpensive kit cars to build. If you pick a good NA or NB donor and sell off the unneeded parts, you can easily bring the total build cost of the Exocet under $10k. As well as using all the Mazda's mechanicals, the Exocet can also use the donor's wheels, seats, instrumentation, exhaust, seat belts and more - all the items that you would typically spend thousands of dollars on when building a typical kit car.
The build progression is simple. The donor can be stripped and it's body removed in a weekend using a standard engine hoist. This exposes the entire Miata drivetrain that is ready to accept the new Exocet chassis. Builders retain the stock Miata wiring harness to further simplify the build process. GRP body panels are supplied in a choice of gelcoat colors to eliminate the need for painting.
In addition to the standard Exocet kit at $5999, a race version is available which includes a full roll cage and steel floors. The race version has it's own class in the 2012 UK Ma5da Championship running as the MX150R.
